Debian-Installer OEM Install

Case ID: doi-001

  1. Select you language for the install and press Enter

  2. Press F-4 and select OEM Install (for manufacturers) and press Enter twice

  3. Select a language for the install and press Enter

  4. Select a location for the install and press Enter

  5. On Keybord Layout select No and press Enter

  6. Select the origin of the keyboard and press Enter /!\ The default for you location and language should already be selected.

  7. Select the layout you wish to use on the keyboard and press Enter /!\ The default for you location and language should already be selected.

  8. Add a hostname for the machine and press Enter

  9. Select Guided - use entire disk and press Enter

  10. Select the disk to use and press Enter

  11. Select Yes to accept the changes and press Enter

  12. Type in your name and press Enter

  13. Add a password and press Enter

  14. Confirm your password and press Enter

  15. Select No for encrypted home directory and press Enter

  16. Input http proxy info or press Enter

  17. Wait for a while /!\ The install may seem like it has locked at 6% but is actually working in the background.

  18. Select Yes to setting your clock to utc and press Enter

  19. You should see instructions shortly before rebooting; in case you miss them, they say:
    • When you boot into the new system, you will be able to log in as the 'oem' user with the password you selected earlier; this user also has administrative privileges using 'sudo'. You will then be able to make any additional modifications you require to the system.

    • Once the system is configured to your satisfaction, run 'sudo oem-config-prepare'. This will cause the system to delete the temporary 'oem' user and ask the end user various configuration questions the next time it boots.

  20. Remove the cd and press Enter

  21. After rebooting you should see a normal Ubuntu desktop.

Case ID: doi-002

  1. Once the desktop has restarted
  2. Do any updates that maybe present
  3. Click on OEM Configuration (temporary user) (Top Right) and select Restart

  4. Once the desktop has restarted double click on Prepare for shipping to end user

  5. Add the OEM user password and click OK

  6. Click OK on the oem-config-prepare window

  7. Click on OEM Configuration (temporary user) (Top Right) and select Shut down

End User Creation

Case ID: doi-003

  1. Switch the machine back on
  2. Select a language and click Forward

  3. Select a timezone and click Forward

  4. Check the keyboard layout is correct or modify and click on Forward

  5. Add End User details and password and click on Forward

  6. Wait for the Log in screen

  7. Type in the username and hit Enter

  8. Type in the password and hit Enter

  9. Wait for the machine to log in
