Ubiquity OEM Install

Case ID: uoi-001

  1. Boot with a CD or USB Key
  2. When you see the aubergine screen with an icon at the bottom, press any key to get the menu
  3. Select your language and press Enter

  4. Press F4 and select OEM install (for manufacturers) and press Enter twice

  5. Wait for the desktop to appear
  6. Double click on the Install Ubuntu icon

  7. Once Ubiquity starts, on the Welcome screen:

    1. Select your language from the list,
    2. Add a Unique name for this batch of systems

    3. Click Forward

  8. Screen Preparing to install Ubuntu

    1. Verify that the state of the check marks match with the state of your system:
      • Your system have at least the amount a space indicated
      • Is plugged to a power source
      • Is connected to the Internet
    2. Click on Forward

  9. Screen Allocate drive space:

    1. Select Erase Disk and install Ubuntu

    2. Click on Forward

  10. Screen Erase disk and install Ubuntu:

    1. Verify that the drive selected on the Select drive list correspond to the drive on the chart (e.g /dev/sda) and that the full drive space is allocated

    2. Click on Install Now

  11. Screen Where are you?:

    1. If your system is connected to the network, verify that the preselected timezone correspond with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box match a city from your area (e.g London)
    2. Verify that you can select another timezone by clicking on the map and that the corresponding city is displayed in the text field.
    3. Verify that you can enter the name of a city in the input field and a drop down list opens with a list of items matching the name you entered. Select one of them
    4. Once you selected a timezone/city click on Forward

  12. Screen Keyboard Layout

    1. Select a Keyboard layout and a variant and verify it is correct by typing charecter in the test area.
    2. Click on Detect Keyboard Layout and answer to the questions. Verify that the proposed keyboard correspond to you keyboard.

    3. Click on Forward

  13. Screen Who are you?

    1. Add a password for the OEM user

    2. Click on Forward

  14. Wait for the installation to proceed and that a slideshow is displayed during the installation.
    1. Verify that the slides change automatically and that you can navigate between them by clicking on the arrows on both side of the slide.
  15. Once the installer has finished choose to Restart now

  16. Remove the disc and press enter

Desktop Ready For End User

Case ID: uoi-002

  1. Once the desktop has restarted
  2. Do any updates that maybe present
  3. Click on Shut down button and select Restart

  4. Once the desktop has restarted double click on Prepare for shipping to end user

  5. Add the OEM user password and click OK

  6. Click OK on the oem-config-prepare window

  7. Click on Shut down button and select Shut down

End User Creation

Case ID: uoi-003

  1. Remove install disc
  2. Switch the machine back on
  3. Select a language and click Forward

  4. Select a timezone and click Forward

  5. Check the keyboard layout is correct or modify and click on Forward

  6. Add End User details and password and click on Forward

  7. Wait for the Log in screen

  8. Type in the username and hit Enter

  9. Type in the password and hit Enter

  10. Wait for the machine to log in


To submit a bug open a terminal or open the run dialog (ALT+F2) and run ubuntu-bug ubiquity
