Ubiquity Resize Install
Case ID: uri-001
Prerequisites:
- A system must already be installed on the disk previous to running this test case.
- Boot with a CD or USB Key to a Live Session
Double click on the Install Ubuntu icon
Once Ubiquity starts, on the Welcome screen click on Forward
Screen Preparing to install Ubuntu
- Verify that the state of the check marks match with the state of your system:
- Your system have at least the amount a space indicated
- Is plugged to a power source
- Is connected to the Internet
Click on Continue
- Verify that the state of the check marks match with the state of your system:
Screen Allocate drive space:
Select Install Ubuntu XX.XX alongsite SYSTEM YY (SYSTEM YY is the name of the system already installed on disk (Ubuntu 11.04, Windows 7, ...)
Click on Forward
Screen Install Ubuntu XX.XX alongsite SYSTEM YY:
Verify that the drive selected on the Select drive list correspond to the drive on the chart (e.g /dev/sda) and that bar is divided in half (e.g. 50%).
- Move the slider bar that separates the grey sections ensuring both are at 50%
Click on Install Now
A confirmation dialog titled Write previous changes to disk and continue is displayed, click Continue and wait for the partition to be resized
Screen Where are you?:
- If your system is connected to the network, verify that the preselected timezone correspond with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box match a city from your area (e.g London)
- Verify that you can select another timezone by clicking on the map and that the corresponding city is displayed in the text field.
- Verify that you can enter the name of a city in the input field and a drop down list opens with a list of items matching the name you entered. Select one of them
Once you selected a timezone/city click on Forward
Screen Keyboard Layout
- Select a Keyboard layout and a variant and verify it is correct by typing charecter in the test area.
Click on Detect Keyboard Layout and answer to the questions. Verify that the proposed keyboard correspond to you keyboard.
Click on Forward
Screen Who are you?
Input your initial user details and password
Note admin can not be used - it is a dedicated Linux User Click on Forward
- Wait for the installation to proceed and that a slideshow is displayed during the installation.
- Verify that the slides change automatically and that you can navigate between them by clicking on the arrows on both side of the slide.
Once the installer has finished choose to Restart now
Remove the disc and press enter
- Allow the machine to reboot
Verify that the grub menu is displayed and you can choose between Ubuntu and system originally installed on the system. Select Ubuntu and press Enter
- Let the system boot, then login and check the system installed correctly.
How to report your results
Report PASSED if: your follow the instructions above and your system successfully boots.
Report FAILED if: you encounter errors or problems in the steps above and/or your system does not boot.
Please report any problems as bugs (to submit a bug open a terminal or open the run dialog (ALT+F2) and run ubuntu-bug ubiquity) and link your bugs in the test results.
